Towing and Payload Capacity Unsurprisingly, the larger turbodiesel excels at towing and hauling.  The maximum towing capacity with this engine is 7,700lbs, compared to 7,000lbs with the V6 and 3,500lbs with the standard four-cylinder. When it comes to payload capacity, the Colorado maxes out at over 1,500lbs, and its' expansive bed makes hauling bulky objects a breeze.
