Drive on Over: 3 Great Spots for Birdwatching Near Fergus Falls, MN

Fergus Falls, MN is a beautiful city that offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation. One of the most popular activities in the area is birding, and there are a number of great spots to participate in the hobby. Today, we're looking at some of the greatest spots for birdwatching in the area. 1. Riverside Waterfowl Sanctuary If you have an affinity for waterfowl, we strongly recommend checking out the Riverside Waterfowl Sanctuary. Birds can be seen in this sanctuary throughout the year, but you should visit in the winter if you want to see trumpeter swans. Other birds you should look for throughout the year include ring-necked ducks, wood ducks, mallards, and Canada geese. 2. Prairie Wetlands Learning Center We also recommend driving to the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center at 602 State Highway 210E and hiking down one or more of the trails there to see a wide variety of bird species. If you walk down the quarter-mile parking lot loop, you can see barn swallows, purple martins, tree swallows, and eastern bluebirds. Other trails that are great for birding include: Wetland Way Trail Tintah Trail Mallard Marsh Trail 3. Maplewood State Park Maplewood State Park at 39721 Park Entrance Road is another great place to visit for birding. There are dozens of bird species that you can expect to see throughout the year. In the fall, some of the most commonly sighted birds include Canada geese, wood ducks, mallards, and blue-winged teals. Turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks, killdeer, and several types of woodpeckers are also commonly spotted in the fall. Fall is one of the best times of year to visit Maplewood State Park for birding, but there are many bird species you can see in the winter, too. For instance, American crows, blue jays, black-capped chickadees, and white-breasted nuthatches can be seen in abundance in the winter. Less commonly, you can see such species as European starlings, cedar waxwings, and dark-eyed juncos. 4. Adams Park on Grotto Lake Finally, you should check out Adams Park on Grotto Lake on S Burlington Ave. Besides the lake, there are man-made habitats here that serve as a home to many adaptable bird species, like great egrets, tree swallows, and pied-billed grebes. Fergus Falls is home to many species of birds, and there is a lot of protected land in the area worth visiting if you want to birdwatch. However, you can't get to these great spots via public transportation. If you're in the market for a reliable car, a 2023 Chevy Equinox may be ideal for you. To take it for a test drive, visit us today at Minnesota Motor Company.

Does Your Chevy Need a Transmission Repair?

Does Your Chevy Need a Transmission Repair?

You may be surprised to know there are over 800 parts in most modern transmissions, all of which have an important role to play in the intricate process of transferring power from the engine to the wheels. Because of this complexity, it's important to notice and repair transmission problems as quickly as possible, before the fault spreads. Here are a few warning signs that should prompt you to visit your local Chevy dealer for transmission repair without delay. Smell of Burning Transmission Fluid Transmission fluid keeps the myriad mechanical parts inside your transmission lubricated and moving against each other smoothly. As transmission fluid ages, it can gradually degrade and diminish inside the heat of the gearbox. When it grows too old, transmission fluid will often start to burn, which you may smell inside the cabin above. If you ever smell something burning, check your transmission fluid and, if necessary, replace it with fresh fluid. Leaking Transmission Fluid Any fluid leaking from your car is a cause for concern. You can usually identify leaking transmission fluid as it's red in color and has a distinctly sweet scent. If you ever pull away from parking and notice a reddish stain on the road, you'll need to have a technician find and fix the leak before your car's inadequately lubricated transmission runs into trouble. Gears Failing To Engage If your gears refuse to engage or are hesitant to shift, then you have some kind of problem inside the transmission. Hopefully, it's something as simple as low or aging transmission fluid, but it may be a more serious issue, and it's best to have a technician check it out right away. Gears Slipping on Their Own If your gears ever slip out of place while you're driving, there's a serious gearbox problem that needs to be fixed immediately. Sudden engine revving while shifting also indicates slipping gears, as does delayed acceleration and harsh sounds when you're trying to shift. Strange Noises in Neutral While in neutral, your transmission should be quiet. Any whining or other sounds when in neutral indicates a problem that shouldn't be ignored. Grinding From the Gearbox When poorly lubricated or worn down, gears may cause grinding noises and shaking when you shift. If you ever hear your gears grinding, check the fluid level and ask a technician to diagnose the problem. Schedule Routine Transmission Service at Your Chevy Dealer As with any car part, scheduling routine transmission service is the surest way to ensure your gearbox stays in optimal working condition. Transmission fluid should usually be changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles for automatic transmissions and every 30,00 to 60,000 miles for manual cars. Check your owner's manual for the recommended interval for your particular model. Have your transmission inspected and repaired by skillful technicians today at Minnesota Motor Company. We have a fine range of new and pre-owned vehicles and courteous, professional staff on hand to help resolve your car-related problems and needs.

5 Benefits of Getting Car Financing at Your Chevy Dealer

Your Chevy dealer offers flexible and fast car financing options. With online applications and desirable interest rates, it's easy to see why people choose to finance at the dealership. 1. Easy and Fast Application Process Our finance team at Minnesota Motor Company accepts loan applications in person and online. This makes it easier for all our customers to apply at their own convenience. Many people fill out our online application from the comfort of their homes. No matter how you apply, we get back to you about your loan as promptly as we can. Our team is focused solely on auto financing, which removes a lot of the steps traditional lenders need. For example, they need to research the car you're purchasing and the dealership you're buying it from. We've streamlined our process so we can offer approvals in less time. 2. Desirable Interest Rates We have built strong working relationships with local Minnesota financial institutions and the manufacturer. These relationships allow us to offer our customers competitive interest rates. These great deals save our customers money over the life of their loans. 3. Flexibility for Low Credit Scores or No Credit History Some of our customers have low credit scores due to past financial issues. We also meet plenty of people in need of a car who haven't built up any credit history yet. Thanks to our relationships with the manufacturer and local banks, we're able to work with applicants. We work with our customers to create flexible repayment plans that work for their unique financial situation. One of the best things about this is that on-time payments help our customers rebuild their credit. 4. Keep Your Savings Securing an auto loan allows you to protect your savings. With a car loan, you can pay for your vehicle in monthly payments over time instead of emptying your savings account. This lets you keep your funds for emergencies and helps you maintain a healthy cash flow. 5. Get the Vehicle You've Dreamed Of Paying for a car upfront makes it difficult for most people to get the vehicle they really want. Too often, they need the new car before they've been able to save enough for the one they dreamed of. Auto loans make it possible to raise your purchasing power. This allows you to get the car you will actually be happy with and keep for years to come. The first step to securing your next vehicle is getting a great financing deal. Once your budget is set, you'll be well on your way to browsing for your dream car. Visit Minnesota Motor Company now to see our wide selection of quality new vehicles.

Does Your Buick or Chevy Need a Brake Repair?

Does Your Buick or Chevy Need a Brake Repair?

Brake maintenance is essential for the health of your brake system, and it can even delay the necessity of repairs. However, eventually, even the best-maintained brakes need to be repaired. If you're not sure whether you need to schedule a brake repair at your local Chevy dealer, you're in the right place. You may need to bring your Buick or Chevy in for a brake job if your brake light is on. Sometimes, when your brake light comes on, you just need to bring your vehicle in for an inspection because there is something wrong with the wiring or a fuse blew, but there is nothing wrong with your brakes. However, in other cases, a repair is necessary. A brake job may also be necessary if you hear a grinding sound when you depress your brake pedal. This may indicate nothing more than a small amount of debris trapped within your brake caliper housing. However, a grinding sound may also indicate that your brake pads are so worn that they are forming grooves in your brake rotor. What If I Smell Something Burning? If you smell something burning while you're driving, you should pull over as soon as it is safe to do so. If the burning smell comes after you brake hard repeatedly and one of your wheels is smoking, there is a possibility that your brake caliper is stuck. Whether you see smoke coming from one of your wheels or not, make sure you completely release your parking brake and give your brakes ample time to cool off. Often, a burning smell indicates the boiling of brake fluid, and if too much brake fluid boils off, your entire brake system can fail. Why You Should Visit Your Local Chevy Dealer for a Brake Repair You should bring your Chevy or Buick to your local dealer for a brake job because we will do a lot more than just fix your brakes. We will inspect the entire system, including the rotors and calipers, realigning anything that is misaligned. Furthermore, we will ensure that your brake calipers do not need to be replaced.
