The world is waking up again, and it’s time to get out of the house! Here’s our list of some of the best ways to make the most of the season with great spring activities in Fergus Falls, MN.
1. Learn About the Prairie Wetlands
Now that the snow has melted, it’s a great time to get out and catch the rush of life that’s happening on the prairie. Whether you’re taking a speedy hike along the Tatanka Trail, or just hanging out by Mallard Marsh, you’ll have the chance to see songbirds arriving from the south, waterfowl, frogs, turtles, and muskrats.
The Prairie Wetlands Visitors Center is located at 602 State Highway 201E and opens on Fridays from 8am to 4pm, with outdoor restrooms available for use at any time. Pay a visit to appreciate the florals that are springing up, and enjoy the incredible driving experience of your Chevy Camaro on the highway under the wide bright prairie skies.
2. Visit the Otter Tail County Museum
Located at 1110 Lincoln Avenue, the Otter Tail County Museum will let you experience spring as it was on an 1890s farm. With dioramas and realistic sound effects, it’s a truly immersive visit to the past. Open from Tuesdays to Fridays from 10am to 3pm, a trip to the museum will give you a newfound appreciation for your local community and its rich history.
3. Fill an Empty Bowl
Whether springtime has you looking for inspiration or fills you with the urge to improve things in the local community, the Empty Bowls fundraiser will give you the chance to channel your mood. Held at Legacy Hall on the campus at 1414 College Way, this event uses beautiful pottery bowls by local artists as a way to raise money to combat hunger in the area.
For a suggested donation of $20, visitors can choose a bowl to fill with soup for lunch, then take it home with them. The event will be held on April 20 from 10.30am to 1.30pm, and will give you a great chance to mix and mingle.
4. Laugh at Funny Bones Comedy
An evening of glee is just the ticket to celebrate the spring. Funny Bones Comedy is held at Steel Wheels at 423 South Cascade Street on May 13. You’ll have the chance to see Alex Avery, Kjell Bjorgen, and Jason Douglas and hear great standup, funny stories and one-liners to split your sides. If you’re looking to shake off those winter blues, this laugh-out-loud event could be just the ticket.
It’ll be summer before we know it, but in the meantime make the most of the chance to create some treasured spring memories. And while you’re enjoying the weather, be sure to stop by and see us at the Minnesota Motor Company to find out more about our latest inventory and offers.
