5 Things to Love About Living in Fergus Falls, MN

We think that we have every right to be particularly proud to live in Fergus Falls, MN. Our city really does have it all: beautiful scenery, rich history, wonderful culture, and an incredible food scene. We are pleased to present to you just a few of the things we love the most about our fantastic home.

Our Wonderful Wetlands

The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center is an incredible resource to find out more about the rich environmental diversity we enjoy here in Otter Tail County. People of all ages will love learning more about the birds of our native prairie and the unique wildlife of our wetlands. The Center is run by the US Fish & Wildlife Service and they operate walking tours throughout the year.

Pretty as a Picture

We are lucky to have a bustling visual arts scene here in Fergus Falls. The Lake Region Arts Council has been running since 1977. They promote amazing access to arts opportunities, including two galleries, grant programs, and workshops. The Kaddatz Art Gallery showcases the work of artists from west-central Minnesota. They offer free admission to their main exhibition which rotates every couple of months.

The Great Outdoors

Pebble Lake is a wonderful local beauty spot. We love to visit the picnic shelter there for a great family day out. There are some really useful facilities, including a kitchen and firepit. There is space to accommodate up to one hundred people so it is a brilliant choice for reunions, birthdays and other celebrations. A sand volleyball court is also available on-site if you want to work up an appetite before your picnic.

Grab a Bite To Eat

We have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to great places to dine out in Fergus Falls. If you appreciate a great cup of coffee and some home-cooking, head to Cally's Cafe & Coffee on East Lincoln Avenue. Try the Dining Car #423 at the restored Cascade Street Station for delicious American dining in a historic setting. We also adore the seafood at Mabel Murphy's Irish pub on Highway 210 West.

Pay a Visit to Phelps Mill

The mill is a fantastic part of the agricultural history of the area, and it has been given a new lease of life as a contemporary tourist attraction. You can find out all about the history of the mill and how it operated in its heyday, or come down for the Phelps Mill Festival where there is a huge array of entertainment on-site with food and attractions that will delight the whole family.

There is so much to love about living in Fergus Falls. There is never a dull moment with such beautiful landscapes all around us and an incredible selection of entertainment options.
