You can choose from three trims with the Encore GX: the Preferred, Select, and Essence. A Sport Touring Package is also available. For the highest fuel rating of 29 mpg on the city and 32 mpg on the highway, opt for a model that's equipped with the 1.3-liter engine and front-wheel drive.

For its size, the Encore GX offers surprisingly spacious passenger and cargo areas. Roomy seating is supplied in both rows and the rear cargo area offers 23.5 cubic feet of space. Folding the rear seats down opens up a maximum cargo area of 50.2 cubic feet. The standard 8-inch infotainment system offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, six speakers, SiriusXM, and USB ports. Available upgrades include a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and a wireless smartphone charger. The base trim comes with push-button start, a cargo cover, keyless open and start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and single-zone climate control. With the two higher trims, you receive a few add-ons, such as heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, 120-volt power outlet, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and leather upholstery.

The Encore GX is equipped with impressive standard safety gear. Apart from automatic emergency braking, the SUV comes with front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, and forward-collision alert.
