You’ll find Chevy Safety Assist equipped on the majority of modern cars at your Chevy dealer. It consists of six features that do a lot to enhance your safety. There are also several advanced Chevy safety features available that aren’t part of Chevy Safety Assist.
Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking
Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking work hand-in-hand. If your Chevy notices you might crash into the car in front of you, then it sends you an alert so you can hit the brakes to prevent it. The emergency braking feature activates if you don’t have enough time to respond to the alert.
Front Pedestrian Braking
Front Pedestrian Braking is similar to the feature above. However, it detects pedestrians and helps you avoid or lessen the impact of a front-end collision with them.
Lane Keeping Assist
Your Chevy scans the road to detect the lane lines and let you know if you’re drifting out of them. It gently turns your steering wheel to make you aware of the issue so you can correct it.
Following Distance Indicator
Chevy cars can help you maintain a safe following distance from the car in front of you. It can calculate how many seconds it would take you to crash into the car in front of you if that car were to stop. This lets you decide whether you’re too close to that vehicle.
IntelliBeam
IntelliBeam stops you from needing to toggle your high beams on and off while driving in the dark. It monitors the traffic conditions and switches the high beams on/off as needed.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking
If there’s a car approaching from either side behind your car when you’re reversing, then your Chevy will send you a warning. If needed, your car will automatically apply the brakes to keep you safe.
Side Bicyclist Alert
If there’s a bicyclist in your blind zone, then your car will let you know so you can avoid crashing into them. If there’s a bicyclist approaching while you’re parked, then the feature will send you an alert so you don’t open your door and hit them while they pass.
